Thompson Closes Decorah Location, Effective March 1, 2023

After careful consideration and review of market information, Thompson Truck & Trailer has made the difficult decision to close our Decorah location, effective March 1, 2023.

The decision to close this location was not an easy one. We have greatly enjoyed the many relationships with our customers and would like to thank all of the customers and employees that we’ve done business with over the years. It’s been a pleasure to serve this community.

Although the Decorah location is closed, Thompson will continue to serve this area through our other locations. All customers with open parts orders or service tickets will be provided with their agreed upon products and services. For future needs, customers can schedule service and order parts through our website, www.thompsontruck.com or visit any of our remaining 5 locations, where Thompson is fully equipped to fulfill parts orders and provide truck and trailer service. The two closest locations are:

Despite the decision to close this particular building, the Thompson business remains strong and future focused. In January, we opened a new trailer repair shop in Cedar Rapids to provide a facility dedicated to our customers' trailer needs. Last month we also opened a brand new, state of the art facility in Dubuque, IA. We have land purchased and plans in place to begin a construction on a new facility in Waterloo in the coming years. The closure of Decorah will allow us to reallocate resources and be better positioned to serve our customers for years to come.
