Opportunities in Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics: Featuring Michelle VanOpdorp

The transportation industry (trucking, logistics, warehousing, etc.) connects consumers throughout the country with important goods and services. In order for this industry continue to be successful, we need to have the right skilled professionals working behind the scenes. The Future Ready Iowa Initiative along with the Iowa Department of Education recently developed a Career Pathway resource to highlight the exciting career opportunities in Iowa's transportation, distribution, and logistics industry. 

Thompson's very own, Michelle VanOpDorp, was featured in the publication. Michelle is no stranger to the transportation industry. Her father is a mechanic so she grew up around this type of work. When Michelle started at Thompson over 3 years ago, she was originally in a maintenance role. It soon became obvious that she is a natural with customers and is now a Service Advisor at Thompson's Davenport location. When asked about her role in the industry, Michelle said the following: 

"From the time the trucks are checked in to when the repair is complete, I assist with the estimates and customer communication. I like the fast-paced, ever-changing environment, building relationships with our customers, and working with our great team each day."
